Objectives

This course will provide an over view and basic understanding of the techniques and knowledge underpinning the skills specific to Oxy-Acetylene Cutting before moving on to develop the delegate's ability through practical coaching and exercises.
The course will enable the delegate to build the knowledge and skills to:
1. Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety legislation, regulations and other relevant guidelines including safe use of gases.
2. Plan the thermal cutting activities before you start them
3. Obtain the appropriate tools and equipment for the cutting operations and check they are in a safe and usable condition
4. Set up the thermal cutting equipment for the operations to be performed
5. Where appropriate mark out the components on the materials for the required operations using appropriate tools and techniques
6. Operate the thermal cutting equipment to produce items/cut shapes to the dimensions and profiles specified
7. Measure and check all dimensional and geometrical aspects of the component are to the specification
8. Shut down the equipment to a safe condition on conclusion of the thermal cutting activities

Requirements

An understanding of engineering processes would be an advantage.

Contact lenses should not be worn by delegates attending his course.

Delegates will require basic PPE, overalls, safety glasses and safety boots.

ALSO NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF ANY DELEGATES NOT TURNING UP ON THE DAY, UNLESS WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED PRIOR TO THIS, YOU MAY BE CHARGED 30% OF THE COURSE FEES FOR COSTS INCURRED.

Notes

Training will be carried out by specialist staff through lectures, demonstrations, individual coaching and practical experience in a workshop environment.
