Objectives

This course will provide an over view and basic understanding of the techniques and knowledge underpinning the skills specific to MIG Welding before moving on to develop the delegate's ability through practical coaching and exercises.

The course will enable the delegate to build the knowledge and skills to:

1. Demonstrate a knowledge of safe and proper use of equipment and materials.

2. Safely start up, set and shutdown MIG welding machinery.

3. Set the machine for different types of material and different thicknesses of material.

4. Use personal protective equipment in accordance with requirements.

5. Use and store compressed gas bottles safely.

6. Use a variety of different welding procedures and techniques.

7. Demonstrate an understanding of basic maintenance of the welding unit.

Requirements

A understanding of engineering processes would be an advantage.

Contact lenses should not be worn by delegates attending his course.

You must bring PPE with you (Overalls – which must be flame retardant and conform to EN ISO 11611 standard , safety boots and safety glasses)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE WILL BE CANCELLED AND RESCHEDULED IF NO UPTAKE IS RECEIVED UP TO 14 DAYS PRIOR TO THE COURSE START DATE.

ALSO NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF ANY DELEGATES NOT TURNING UP ON THE DAY, UNLESS WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED PRIOR TO THIS, YOU MAY BE CHARGED 30% OF THE COURSE FEES FOR COSTS INCURRED.

Training will be carried out by specialist staff through lectures, demonstrations, individual coaching and practical experience in a workshop environment.
