Employers

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/EKGTAEast Kilbride Group Training Association (EKGTA) has been working with local employers for over forty years, and provides apprenticeship training for many companies. Training is conducted to nationally recognised standards and this is verified by the Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Technologies Alliance, City & Guilds and SQA up to S/NVQ Level 4 standard.

Why should you offer modern apprenticeships ?

Modern Apprenticeships are nationally reconised training pathways designed to attract bright, able people to industry and provide them with the high level of work based skills required by many employers and with a wide range of qualifications available.
For example, engineering has 7 approved Training Pathways through the Sector Skills Council - SEMTA

Technical Operator 1-2 Years SEMTA Programme
Craft Apprentice 3-4 Year Modern Apprentice Programme
Technician Apprentice 3-4 Year Modern Apprentice Programme
Graduate 1-4 Year SEMTA Programme
Management/Supervision As Required
Commercial As Required
Continuing Personal Development As Required

Other Modern Apprenticeship Frameworks (e.g. in the Polymer Sector) have different pathways, but all have some common components. Call us now to find out more about the training programme under your Sector Skills Council.

EKGTA can assist you in the following ways:

  • Contact careers offices to notify and encourage promotion of vacancies.
  • Accept letters of application, respond with application forms, issue test/interview dates.
  • Conduct relevant testing of applicants (e.g. numeracy, mechanical comprehension, IT).
  • Conduct first screening interview and provide feedback to the company.
  • Provide company with a short list for interview on premises.
  • Assistance with in-company interviews if required.
  • Assist the company to complete necessary paperwork.
  • Source grant funding from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to help fund training programme.
The annual recruiting cycle to attract suitable candidates for new apprenticeship vacancies will be underway shortly, and EKGTA is surveying employers to establish their apprenticeship requirements for 2022 and to confirm how EKGTA can assist them.
