Basic Soldering Techniques

Objectives

The delegate will take part in a training programme, which provides the knowledge and skills required to solder competently and enable them to understand the basic principles of soldering. The training will enable the candidate to:

1. Soldering theory and best practice

2. Work safely and efficiently during the soldering process

3. Prepare tools and materials for the soldering process

4. Understand the process of Heat transfer

5. Use Heat shielding

6. Prepare various cable ends for soldering, tinning wires and components.

7. Component and wire recognition

8. Form and Solder various types of wire to a variety of terminations

9. Form and Solder components to terminals and PCBs

10. Component removal from PCBs

Requirements

No previous soldering skills or experience are necessary.

Notes

This course will be suitable for mechanical crafts people as part of a multi-skill training, as well as for assemblers of electrical and/or electronic equipment.

A sandwich lunch will be provided.

A certificate of industrial training will be awarded to delegates on successful completion of the course.
