Basic Fitting (hand Skills)

Objectives

By the end of this course the candidate will be able to:

1. Work safely at all times, complying with health and safety legislation, regulations and other relevant guidelines.
2. Plan the fitting activities before you start them.
3. Obtain and prepare the appropriate tools and equipment for the hand fitting operations and check they are in a safe and usable condition.
4. Mark out the components/ materials for the required operations using appropriate tools, methods and techniques.
5. Cut and shape the materials to the required specification using appropriate tools and techniques.
6. Measure and check all dimensional and geometric aspects of the component are to the specification.
7. Re-instate the work area, clean tools and place them in there proper place after the fitting activity.

Requirements

There are no special requirements however candidates should have good dexterity and a knowledge of engineering drawings would be an advantage.
