Safety with Industrial Gases

Objectives

This course is designed for staff who will be exposed to the risks from use of industrial gases used in the welding process.


The course will enable the delegate to build the knowledge and skills to:

1. Identify the correct labeling of gas cylinders

2. Understand the correct methods of handling and transporting gas
cylinders

3. Recgonise the characteristics of gases used in the welding process
including flammability, flame speeds, how they react to fire or a
deficiency of oxygen.

4. Understand the use of equipment used in gas cylinders including valves,
flashback arrestors, regulators hoses and torches

5. Understand the different types of gases used in the welding process
including;

Acetylene
Argon
Carbon Dioxide
Hydrogen
Nitrogen
Propane
Oxygen.

Requirements

A basic understanding of different types of welding or burning process would be an advantage but is not essential

Notes
